Patients at the Epilepsy Center are fully evaluated. A complete history and physical examination is taken the first time you see the doctor. This may include some advanced testing at the time of initial contact or the testing may not even be necessary.	In addition to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in the hospital, the Epilepsy Center has an additional and separate fully equipped Neurodiagnostic Laboratory (NDL) - The NDL has the latest neurophysiologic equipment to assist in whatever additional testing is needed to analyze patients for epilepsy surgery. The NDL also provides complete services for the entire Swedish Medical Center.

The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is located in the Swedish Medical Center. Each room is a private suite. There are amenities such as VCRs, TVs and a bed for a family member's use. Although it looks very comfortable, it is a fully equipped hospital room.	The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Swedish Medical Center is staffed by a highly qualified hospital team. The nursing staff has extensive experience in dealing with seizures and patients undergoing monitoring for epilepsy surgery.
The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit rooms are fully furnished hospital suites. Each of these rooms is equipped with modern EEG and video capabilities. The information obtained during epilepsy monitoring is fed into a central processing area. There the data is analyzed by the technologists and medical doctors.
