CNI Center for Hearing

Welcome to the CNI Center for Hearing, a program of the Colorado Neurological Institute (CNI), a nonprofit research and charitable institute located on the campus of Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. Under the leadership of Medical Director David Kelsall, MD, the CNI Center for Hearing has become one of the leading facilities in the United States for cochlear implantation and for charitable work with the hearing impaired community.

In addition to its ongoing function of diagnosis and treatment of neurotology disorders, the CNI Center for Hearing has created very powerful charitable programs for helping individuals, many of them children, with serious hearing impairments: the CNI Cochlear Kids Camps; the World Hearing Network; the Cochlear Implant Assistance Program; the Baha Assistance Program; the Angel Network; and Support Groups for adults with cochlear implants as well as parents of children with cochlear implants. In addition, the CNI Teen Thing is a social and recreational support group for youth with cochlear implants. All of our programs are funded by private and corporate donations.

The cochlear implant procedure, which results in the technological miracle of bringing its recipient from the deaf world to the hearing world, has been shown to be one of the most cost-effective advanced medical technologies in the world today. The CNI Rocky Mountain Cochlear Implant Center provides comprehensive care for patients who are severely-to-profoundly hearing impaired, including preoperative evaluation and counseling on such issues as cochlear implantation, surgical placement of the device, and post-operative rehabilitation.
