Activities and Agenda
Mission: The CNI Cochlear Kids Camps are designed to bring together cochlear-implanted children, toddlers through high school seniors, from all across North America with their families for an amazing experience in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Our motto is "Sharing Success" and our mission is to provide a warm, accepting environment where these children and their families can meet others who are facing the same challenges and celebrating the same achievements. Over the course of the weekends, family members will enjoy indoor and outdoor settings that are both recreational and educational. We invite you to join in the experience as you and your family members learn from each other while building strong and lasting connections both within and between families.

Lodging: Each family will be assigned to a private room that includes a bathroom with shower. All bedding, linens and towels are provided.
Food: Meals are included in the cost and will be provided at scheduled times throughout the weekends.
What to Bring: Due to the changing weather conditions that often occur in the mountains, days can be hot and sunny, with occasional afternoon rain showers, while evenings are generally cool. Therefore, please bring a variety of clothing that can be worn/removed in layers, such as shirts, jackets, shorts and long pants. We also suggest that each family member bring a raincoat and tennis shoes or hiking boots. Estes Park Center has an indoor swimming pool so be sure to bring swimwear.

Our camps offer a wide range of activities, including parent and family workshops, children's day camp sessions, family team building, arts and crafts, nature walks, ropes course, climbing areas, swimming, archery, horseback riding, horse drawn wagon rides, barbeque cookout, games and more! A typical day includes gathering for breakfast as a group in our private dining room, attending planned group activities in the morning such as parent and family workshops while children/teens are at day camp sessions, enjoying lunch together in our dining room, spending the afternoon participating in a variety of CNI-sponsored "Campers Choice" activities, having dinner as a group, then attending planned group activities in the early evening, while later in the evening you can choose from optional group activities. The June camp will also feature an added bonus for the older teens: an optional, no-extra-charge camp-out, led by YMCA counselors.

Registration, release forms and reservation fees will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration process for each camp will close no later than the deadline and may close earlier if all available rooms have been reserved. Incomplete reservations will not be processed until all required materials have been received.
Registration fees vary according to family size:
Note: The actual cost of the camp averages more than $1,100.00 per family of four. We are fortunate to have several generous sponsors who have agreed to donate the majority of the costs so that CI kids and their families can attend for only a fraction of the actual expense.

Wanted:
ASL, SEE, TC Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers 18 or older who can sign and/or
interpret ASL, SEE or TC for some of our CNI Cochlear Kids. These volunteers
will assist YMCA counselors as they lead the children's morning groups
in various activities by explaining the event,
providing clarification, etc. Most activities will be self-explanatory,
such as arts and crafts, so extensive signing is not expected. We want
to insure that all children are fully included in all events. We may also
have a few opportunities for signers/interpreters to work with adult groups
as well. Additionally, all of our volunteers also help staff the information
and activity sign-up desk.
We request that volunteers commit to being onsite for the entire camp. Meals and lodging (private bedrooms) will be provided for volunteers, however we regret that we cannot provide transportation to/from the camp nor can we accommodate the families of volunteers due to financial and space limitations.
We also offer a variety of workshops throughout the weekends for parents and/or families. If you are interested in presenting a workshop, please contact us for more information.
Help these Cochlear Implant families have an unforgettable experience in the splendor of the Rocky Mountains - for more information, please contact Judith Stucky at 303-806-7416 or by e-mail at jstucky@theCNI.org
To apply to become a volunteer or presenter at the CNI Cochlear Kids Camp, you must complete the volunteer/presenter registration, release form, and YMCA waiver of liability form.
