In 2004 and 2005, the teens had a great time as part of the "Rebuilding Together" project - a program that aids low-income senior citizens with repairs and painting in their homes (see below for a recap of last year's activities). Now as 2006 gets underway, the teens plan to buy paint and other supplies for a home that they will refurbish this spring.
Our group had a great time on April 30th for "Rebuilding Together,"a project to help low-income senior citizens with repairs and painting. This was our second year of undertaking Rebuilding Together. What a year it has been for all of us. On one of our project's we had a total of 15 teens and adults participating for this years event of rebuilding and refurbishing a home. We all participated in painting inside the house to make it beautiful and help to brighten up the rooms. The homeowner was very pleased with our enthusiasm and results to upgrade her home. Her house really needed some painting and we were more then willing to help.
I could not have accomplished this task with out the teens and adults who came back to be part of this project. You could see and feel that it was very important to everyone working, to give a part of themselves to help someone else. They felt that helping someone, who really deserved to have this project, made them feel proud to accomplish it. In turn, I was proud to have such a caring and gifted team. Thanks to all for making this year a wonderful and inspiring year.
