Social Security Disability Programs

Applying for disability can be a trying experience. Social Security disability programs are complex, confusing and difficult to understand. Recent attempts to streamline the application and appeal process have increased the wait time for individuals with a disability. This course is for individuals with a chronic neurological disorder who are considering going on disability. The class will cover:

1. Brief overview of the Social Security Disability system
2. Preparation for the application process
3. Discussion of interplay between Social Security Disability and your private disability benefits
4. Sample questions from the application
5. Developing a framework to cut back on time spent on the application process
6. Small group activity to practice and problem solve issues that arise.

This class is conducted in a small group format so that participants can learn and share with others in the group. Individuals must register for both sessions.

Cost: This is a free class for individuals with a neurological disability and/or their significant other.
