Family History
A history of cerebrovascular disease in the family appears to be a contributing
factor to stroke. However, it’s important to remember that previous
generations did not have information about stroke risk factors and were
therefore unable to manage many of the contributing factors. Lifestyle
changes that include proper diet, exercise and not smoking can help combat
family history. However, if a parent or sibling has suffered a stroke
you are at a slightly higher risk even with otherwise minimal risk factors.
It is very important you know the warning signs of stroke.
