Please plan to join us for the Cindy Acree Hope Awards Celebration on Wednesday,
May 13, 2009 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will be held at Pinehurst Country Club, 6255 W. Quincy Avenue, Denver.
Each year CNI holds an event to share the extraordinary and inspiring
stories of our Cindy Acree Hope Award recipients. These exceptional
individuals are nominated and selected by members of CNI for their
demonstration of courage, strength and continuous hope in the midst of a
neurological disorder.
The Hope Awards Celebration is unique in that it is about and for CNI's
patients, care, research and outreach. This is not a party or sit-down
dinner; rather, it is a sharing of successes.

CNI Board Honors Top Fundraisers
During the CNI Board of Director's Meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 the group recognized Charlie and Kathy Wolf for their top fund raising efforts on behalf of the CNI Center for Brain & Spinal Tumors at the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival, June 1, 2008.
Charlie is a 7 year survivor who has never let the diagnosis of high grade brain tumor stop him from living life to the fullest and supporting CNI. Between multiple surgeries, a stem cell transplant, gamma knife sessions, radiation and chemo treatments he has written two books about his brain tumor experience. Yearly he makes a trek through his Highlands Ranch neighborhood asking for donations for his E-Rock ride. Every year he raises monies that help support all the patients at the CNI Center. In 2008 he walked and raised more than $4,000 to make this our best year ever in terms of fund raising for this event. Kathy generously makes charitable donations through her employer that are matched by the company and donated to CNI.
No words can adequately thank this special couple for the contributions they make to CNI and for the encouragement and support they offer to all the brain tumor patients. They are an inspiration to the groups they host in their home during the social club gatherings of the "Hole in the Head Gang," to those who attend the Healing Services and Support Group and to the patients who are acquainted with them through their treatment sessions in the neuro-oncology offices and the radiation oncology suite.
People like Charlie and Kathy are one of the reasons CNI exists. CNI is here to help hundreds of patients every year - similar, but different from Charlie and Kathy. CNI provides treatment, education and support. Often our patients have incredibly positive outcomes, other times they and their families continue to face challenges. Charlie and Kathy have faced numerous obstacles, but in their struggles they have focused on helping others. Please consider helping CNI with our mission of supporting our patients and their families struggling with neurological illnesses and diseases. Make a donation today >>
CNI REVIEW Journal Covers Multiple Sclerosis
See the Winter 2007 CNI REVIEW medical journal on multiple sclerosis provided
by the Rocky Mountain MS Center under the directorship of Dr. Allen Bowling.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common non-traumatic cause
of neurological disability in young adults and the most common
acquired inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous
system. It is unpredictable and extremely variable in severity
and the types of symptoms it may cause. Due to its relatively early
age of onset, it often strikes people who are in the “prime” of
their lives. Due to these factors, MS may have a huge impact on
those with the disease as well as their family, friends, and caregivers.
This issue includes these articles: Multiple Sclerosis: The Basics
and Beyond; Some Thoughts on Managing Mood and Multiple Sclerosis;
Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis; Adult Day Services; Complementary
and Alternative Medicine in Multiple Sclerosis Care; Social Security
Disability Insurance (SSDI) Benefits and the MS Patient; The Rocky
Mountain MS Center Tissue Bank; and Providing Building Blocks for
