I often get asked questions about drug testing, and one of the most common is about Xanax. Basically, how to get Xanax out of your system quickly to pass a drug test.
I know that Xanax is a common drug that people use to obtain focus, calmness, and happiness. It’s great for curing the effects of horrific anxiety that can cripple you socially. Off label, it’s a ride that is great fun, but it can get you into trouble if you need a job.
So what I’m doing here is writing a complete guide about Xanax and drug testing.
I will cover how it works in the body and how long it can be detected by a drug test when you use it. I will also cover the different types of drug tests (urine, blood, saliva, hair) and whether they are all the same for detecting Xanax.
Plus, I’ll cover how to get Xanax out of your system naturally with a Xanax detox, and the exact methods you can use to pass urine and saliva drug tests even if you have only recently taken it.
Here’s How Xanax Works In Your Body
Alprazolam is the active compound in Xanax. Xanax is just a brand name like Volkswagen is a brand of car.
The alprazolam structure has an extra C2H3N2 attachment at the top of that, while the bottom remains the same as other benzodiazepines. This is why Xanax and all other types of benzodiazepine are detectable on drug tests, because of the chemical structure and how they react in the body.
It’s an analog of the 1, 4 benzodiazepine compound class. So it’s quite similar to benzos like Valium.
When taken (it’s not water-soluble) you will feel it after about 15 minutes, and the effects peak after about two hours.
One thing that surprised me is that benzodiazepines are given to tens of millions, and yet scientists can’t explain exactly what mechanism of action in the body produces the effects. But what they do know is that it primarily increases levels of GABA, as well as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.
That’s why you feel calmer, happier, and more focused; with anxiety and upset slowly washing away.
How Long Does Xanax Stay In Your Urine, Saliva, Blood, Or Even Hair?
There’s a real problem with trying to explain to you how long Xanax lasts. If someone asks how long does Xanax stay in your urine, you simply cannot say four days, three days, or whatever.
This is the reason why. Your average person, average Joe, has a different elimination half time depending on a variety of factors:
- Healthy middle-aged person 11.2 hours
- Obese middle-aged person 21.8 hours
- A healthy person over 65 16.4 hours
- Someone in generally poor health as long as 18 hours
So as you can see, although a healthy person could eliminate a single dose in just 24 hours, that could be two days if they are obese.
As people have a combination of the above factored in, alongside diet, other drugs they are taking, and the size and frequency of the dosing benzodiazepines, then you can only really offer big brackets of time during which you can be detected.
When we talk about “average”, it really has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Being broad, and taking the averages, these are the realistic timescales in which you can get rid of Xanax naturally:
- 2 – 3 days in saliva
- 4 – 5 days in urine
- 1 – 4 days in blood
- 90 days in hair
Let’s talk specifically about how long Xanax stays in urine. On average, around five days. At lower doses, or if you healthy (or combo), a day or two less.
Even if you are healthy, if you are taking daily doses of Xanax then it could be five or six days, or longer before you would test negative.
How To Get Xanax Out Of Your System Naturally
The best way to pass a drug test is to actually get clean. That means learning how to get Xanax out of your system the natural way. Unfortunately, if you are a regular user of Xanax, taking it every day for example, then it’s going to be at least a week before you are clean.
The truth is it could take up to 2 weeks if you are a regular user who is using other things as well, and is also not in peak physical condition.
These are the things you can do to make sure your body works at peak performance to eradicate toxins to the bladder, bowels, and skin:
- Immediately stop taking all drugs
- Do not drink alcohol
- Stop eating processed and poor quality food
- keep fit and healthy daily
- Sweat and exercise daily
- Only eat lean and healthy foods
- Drink plenty of water
- Sip water constantly and eat frequent small portions of food to speed up your metabolism and the rate at which your body passes urine and stool But even doing all that, it’s not going to be enough to speed things up a lot; it’s just going to maximize the natural speed of elimination your body can reach.
To accelerate the removal of Xanax toxins that could be detected during a drug test beyond natural levels, you will need to speed them up with detox pills.
Toxin Rid is the pill I would recommend. They can speed up the removal time by up to 50%. So if it would take you 10 days to get clean naturally, you can be clean in five days.
I would recommend you don’t buy a course length of less than five days. The seven-day Toxin Rid course is ideal, and the 10 day course should be used if you are a daily Xanax user.
How To Pass A Drug Test For Xanax In 24 Hours (Quickly At Short Notice)
Now let’s talk about passing a drug test for Xanax in 24 hours or less.
These are the ways that you can pass such a drug test every time.
- Synthetic Urine
As long as it’s an unsupervised test (unless it’s for something like law enforcement or a previously failed test then it won’t be supervised), then synthetic urine is the best way to pass a drug test for xanax or any other drug.
As long as it’s high quality, and closely mimics human urine physically, and in its composition, then it will pass standard drug testing with ease.
The best brand out there is Sub Solution. It contains 14 chemicals found in real urine.
Plus, Sub Solution also looks, froths, and even smells like real urine. It’s within the correct pH and specific gravity range for human urine as well.
Better than that, Sub Solution comes with heat activator powder. No relying on a heatpad to keep within the correct temperature range; you just tap in some powder before you go inside to submit your sample, gently shake it until it dissolves, and it will raise the temperature through friction.
Sub Solution is a powder, which means you will need to mix it with filtered water prior to leaving to submit your test. If you don’t want to do that, then you can trade up to Quick Luck. It’s basically Sub Solution in a premixed format.
Easy to use, complex enough to pass standard drug tests, and easy to smuggle in a small container, it’s the easiest and safest way to pass a urine drug test for Xanax.
- Detox Drinks
If you don’t have the confidence to smuggle in a fake sample, or you think it could be a supervised (or even an observed) drug test, then detox drinks are the way to go instead. Be aware that most detox drinks are little more than flavored water. Brands like Stinger detox, Magnum, and QCarbo just don’t work.
A detox drink has to have the potency to flush out the toxins moving towards and through your bladder. It contains ingredients that do this more effectively than water.
At the same time, it floods your body with things found in urine. By flooding the body, some are passed through into your urine to keep it natural. The best drinks do this in a balanced way.
Also, a good quality detox drink keeps the urine looking right as well. So it’s a three-step process that the detox drink has to achieve so that your urine passes the validity checks during a drug test. Rescue Cleanse or Mega Clean is the best detox drink you can use.
With a detox drink though, to give it more chance, it’s best to try and do a 24 or 48 detox before your test if possible.
Abstain, and if you can, use a course of detox pills so that you push out as many toxins as possible. By doing that, you will have less toxins left in your body and it will be longer before they leak back into your cleansed urine.
- Oral Clear Saliva Neutralizing Gum
It’s not just Xanax urine tests that are the problem. You could face an oral drug test that can pick up Xanax within about 24 – 48 hours of use.
The best way to prepare for a mouth swab drug test is to brush your teeth every three hours, and use a good quality mouthwash at the same time. Focus on the gum line and get rid of the toxin buildup.
Then, as close to your test as possible (within 10 minutes if possible) use the capsule of Oral Clear gum. You can use Oral Clear even if somebody is in the room with you, because it’s so discreet. So just cough, then place your hand over your mouth to put it in from the palm of your hand.
It’s not cheap, but it will neutralize your saliva for up to 30 minutes, and give you a great chance of passing an oral swab drug test.
Top Five Xanax Drug Testing Questions Answered
Let’s finish this guide on getting Xanax out of your system in passing a drug test by telling you the answers to the top five Xanax FAQs in relation to drug testing that I get asked.
- Which Drug Tests Does Xanax Show Up On?
Xanax shows up on the standard six-panel drug test and above. However, be aware that some employers now swap out the cannabis panel on the five panel test with benzodiazepines instead. In short, you cannot rely on what is listed on the standard drug test panels. The person commissioning the test can swap out any panels they want, so you have to always work on the assumption you could be tested for benzo use.
- Is Xanax The Same As Valium?
Xanax and Valium are very similar in terms of the onset, duration, and effects they bring. However, chemically, they are not the same. But they are both benzodiazepines in structure, and both will be picked up on a drug test.
- Are All Benzodiazepines Found On Drug Tests?
All benzos are found on drug tests. Although they may have slightly different chemical structures, in the main, they have the characteristics, which is why they produce the effects in the body, produce the same waste products, and are all detectable.
- How Do You Pass A Hair Drug Test For Xanax?
Passing a hair drug test for Xanax is the same as passing any other type of hair drug test. You will need to use the Macujo method to pass. You have to open up the hard cuticle layer of the hair, flush out the drug toxins, and then close that layer up. Only the Macujo method and ingredients it uses can do this without damaging the hair and scalp.
- How Long Does Xanax Stay In Your System?
How long Xanax stays in your system depends on who you are, and how much you’ve taken (and over what duration). For a very light user, the answer is around five days. But if you are using Xanax every day, then it could be detectable in a standard drug test for seven days, 10 days, or even as long as two weeks.
